In 1888 a new bridge was built south across False Creek, streets and neighborhoods quickly began to develop in the area there after, this hillside subdivision came to be known as “Mount Pleasant”, named after a village just outside of Dublin, Ireland. The Mount Pleasant area that spans from South East False Creek to Upper Main Street and is one of the remaining districts in Vancouver that has retained aspects of the early settlers building style.
The 2010 Heritage Vancouver Society’s Endangered List has noted the Mount Pleasant area as one of the few remaining heritage neighborhoods at significant risk of being demolished. Few buildings in this area have made it onto the Heritage Register, and even fewer are designated. Due to Vancouver’s high land values, and changes in zoning, the remaining houses are under increasing pressure for redevelopment, and demolition.
EXLE found this Mount Pleasant home in dire need of some expertise to get it’s renovation back on track. With this project driven to a halt by by another’s malfeasance – EXLE took over the job and brought it from renovation nightmare to a house that is now a beautiful character home. Just another residential renovation project by the Extraordinary League Contracting team.
